AMBC Tour – a Welsh Driving Experience to Remember

When Richard reached out after seeing our Welsh Route advertised, he was after something tailored—a private event with a small group of serious cars, including a McLaren 650S, Bentley GTC, and a pair of V12 Aston Martins. Of course, those weren’t the only head-turners on tour, but they set the tone for an unforgettable drive.

With the weather playing along perfectly, we kicked things off at the Metropole Hotel for our induction before heading straight into the stunning roads of the Elan Valley—a breathtaking start to the journey. The drive north took us over the Machynlleth Mountain Road, an absolute dream for drivers, before a well-earned lunch at the historic George III Pub. After refueling, we made a quick stop at Bala Lake, then dived into one of Wales’ best-kept driving secrets, winding our way toward the vast open beauty of Black Rock Sands.

Our stay that night sat on the edge of Snowdonia, where the group settled in for a refined three-course dinner in a sleek, modern setting—good food, great company, and the perfect atmosphere to reflect on the day’s roads.

Day two kicked off in style with a run along the North Coast Expressway, where the tunnels turned those V12s and turbocharged engines into pure music. The Snowdonia loop led us through more stunning landscapes, landing us in Betws-y-Coed for lunch before one last, perfectly curated drive—the legendary Evo Triangle, the kind of route that ensures the tour ends on the highest of highs.

A huge thank you to Richard and the AMBC members for joining us—it was an absolute pleasure hosting you, and we’d love to see you back on another RouteGT adventure soon!
