The Welsh Route Weekend – A Tour to Remember
This year’s Welsh Route weekend was nothing short of spectacular, bringing together an incredible lineup of 20 cars, from Lamborghinis and Porsches to Aston Martins and Alfa Romeos. A mix of performance, luxury, and heritage filled the roads, creating an unforgettable atmosphere from start to finish.
Among the group were a few familiar faces from last year’s tour, joined by many new members eager to experience Wales’ best driving roads. With excitement high, we kicked off the event with a stay at Lion Quay, where a warm welcome and a hearty breakfast set the tone for the adventure ahead.
Day one began with a scenic run through Milltir Cerrig Pass, an ideal introduction to the Welsh landscape, before a quick coffee stop at Rhug Farm Shop. Then came the Evo Triangle—a legendary circuit of three perfectly linked roads, famous among drivers and motoring journalists alike. It provided the perfect combination of tight bends, sweeping straights, and elevation changes, setting the group up for an exhilarating morning. Lunch in Betws-y-Coed was a welcome pause, and once again, Hangin’ Pizzas did not disappoint.
The afternoon saw us winding through Snowdonia’s finest roads before heading to the coast for a stop at Black Rock Sands. The sight of high-performance machines lined up against the dramatic backdrop of the sea was nothing short of breathtaking. A final blast along the North Coast Expressway brought day one to a close, followed by a private dining experience—a refined three-course dinner in a modern, elegant setting, where great food and great company rounded off a perfect day.
Day two took us south over Crimea Pass, a stunning ascent that delivered wide-open views and unforgettable driving moments. The road led us to Bala, where the group gathered for a striking lakeside lineup—a perfect opportunity to capture the tour’s spirit in a single frame. From here, we made our way toward the coast, crossing the Penmaenpool Toll Bridge, where a touch of vintage charm met the roaring power of modern performance cars.
The final stretch of the tour was nothing short of perfection. We carved through mountain roads toward Clywedog Reservoir, soaking in the vast scenery before arriving at Elan Valley for a final loop to bring the adventure to a fitting close.
A huge thank you to all our members who joined us for an incredible weekend—an event filled with breathtaking drives, great company, and moments that won’t soon be forgotten. We can’t wait to welcome you back for the next RouteGT adventure.
