A practical, guest‑ready guide to help you arrive prepared and enjoy every mile.
A Route GT driving tour is designed to feel effortless but arriving prepared helps you get the most from the experience. This checklist brings everything together in one place, so guests know exactly what to bring, what to expect, and what isn’t included.
Your Route GT Packing List
Driving Tour Essentials
Everything you need to have in place before you arrive at the start point.
- Your vehicle, fully fuelled and well maintained – Please arrive with a full tank and a car that’s recently serviced. Fuel stops during the tour are at your own cost, and your vehicle should be in good working order — check tyres, brakes, fluids, lights, and general condition.
- Valid driving licence & ID – Required for all participating drivers.
- Travel insurance – This is essential and must cover both you and your companion.
- Breakdown cover – Ensure your vehicle is protected in case of mechanical issues.
- Car insurance – Your vehicle must be insured for normal road use, with suitable cover for a driving tour. If you’re heading into Europe, ensure your policy includes international cover and roadside assistance abroad.
Clothing & Comfort
Pack for a full day on the road, with comfort and practicality in mind.
- Comfortable clothing for the day – You’ll be driving, stepping out for viewpoints, and moving around choose something practical and easy to wear.
- Relaxed evening wear – If your tour includes a hotel stay or dinner, bring something comfortable but presentable for the evening. Smart‑casual is ideal.
- Weather‑appropriate layers – Depending on the forecast, consider waterproofs, warm layers, sunglasses, or sun protection.
Personal Items
A few small things that make the day smoother and more enjoyable.
- Snacks and drinks – Lunches and drinks aren’t included unless specified.
- Any medication you may need – Keep essentials with you rather than in the boot.
- Extras
- Driving gloves
- A small first‑aid kit
- Evening toiletries
- Swimwear for the hotel pool or spa.
- Book or kindle for down time
- Pre‑booked spa or massage appointments (not included)
Car Care
For those who like their car looking sharp in photos and at regroup points, a few quick‑care essentials can make all the difference:
- Microfibre cloths – for dust, fingerprints, and interior touch‑ups
- Quick detailer – for a fast exterior refresh
- Glass wipes – to keep windscreens and mirrors spotless
- Interior wipes – for smudges and unexpected spills
These aren’t required but many guests appreciate having them on hand, especially on scenic routes where the car becomes part of the experience.
European Compliance (If Travelling Abroad)
If your Route GT adventure takes you into Europe or you plan to continue your journey after the tour certain items are legally required in many EU countries. These are simple to pack and can save a lot of hassle:
- Hi‑vis jackets (one per person, kept inside the cabin)
- Warning triangle (some countries require two)
- Headlamp beam deflectors
- Spare bulb kit
- Breathalyser kit (requirements vary by country)
- European accident form
- UK identifier (depending on your number plate)
Important: Requirements vary between countries and can change without notice.
It is your responsibility to check the legal requirements for every country you plan to drive through. This list is not exhaustive.
Camera / GoPro
Route GT is built around rhythm, scenery, and shared adventure — and the views are worth capturing.
A camera or GoPro lets you record convoy moments, sweeping landscapes, and the kind of memories that are impossible to recreate. Many guests say their footage becomes one of their favourite takeaways from the entire experience.
What’s Not Included
To keep everything transparent, here’s what you’ll need to arrange or cover yourself:
- Fuel for your vehicle throughout the trip
- Parking fees outside of included hotels
- Lunches and drinks
- Car & Travel insurance
- Breakdown cover for your vehicle
- Spa treatments or massages
Final Thought
A great drive starts long before the engine turns over. Pack with intention, prepare your car, and give yourself the space to enjoy every moment — from the first meet point to the last mile. The more ready you feel, the more you can relax into the experience and let the road do what it does best.
