The original Welsh Route: 17 cars, quiet October roads, North Wales scenery and the weekend that started this chapter for Route GT.
The October 2024 Tour of Wales was the first Route GT two-day Welsh weekend. Planned initially for ten cars, demand grew the group to 17, with everything from highly modified Audi TTRS to Mercedes-AMG C63s joining the event.
Mid-October brought quieter roads, a modern four-star North Wales hotel and a group dinner that helped shape the atmosphere Route GT would later carry into its full Past Tours programme.
Start with four day blocks. Keep the days you need and delete the rest for shorter tours.
Saturday arrived with exceptionally bright weather and the kind of quieter mid-October roads that had motivated the timing of the weekend in the first place. Seventeen cars moved through North Wales with far less seasonal traffic than the same roads would usually carry in summer.
The day finished back at the four-star hotel, where the group shared an evening meal and settled into the social side of the first Route GT Welsh weekend.
Sunday began with rain, but the conditions improved before the group headed back onto the road. The legacy write-up does not record the individual route stages, so the standardised page deliberately avoids inventing them.
What it does record is the atmosphere: a larger group than originally planned, a broad mix of cars and a weekend successful enough to become the starting point for the Welsh Route that followed.
