Meet near Chepstow, complete the drivers’ briefing and head north through the Brecon landscape. Flowing roads and reservoir country build toward the first night at the Metropole Hotel.
The main driving day links the quiet roads of Mid Wales with the bigger scenery of the north. Mountain stretches, carefully chosen pauses and a changing landscape lead to Ixora Hotel & Spa.
Choose the final scenic drive or a slower spa morning, then regroup for the closing leg east. The tour finishes near Oswestry with a relaxed event and time to bring the three-day journey to a proper close.
The Welsh Route is tested to go well beyond one famous triangle. Brecon, Elan Valley, Mid Wales and Snowdonia are linked by mountain roads, flowing A-roads and quieter sections that deserve equal attention. Four to five hours of driving each day leaves enough time for lunch, scenery and the shared parts of the tour.
The route pairs the Metropole Hotel — a characterful Welsh landmark with motorsport heritage — with the contemporary Ixora Hotel & Spa. Both are chosen for location, comfort, dining and parking, creating two different but complementary bases as the journey moves north.
